The Ignite Five Star Review Badge

After a little forum banter about review sites awarding badges for people to add to their blogs, Michael Brookes, author, games developer and all round nice bloke, designed the above badge for my blog.  Thanks, Michael.  You make me feel like a real reviewer!

Many review sites actively solicit free copies of books for review and some have a number of reviewers, each with a genre specialism.  I just review the books I choose to read and even in cases where I've seen a preview copy, I buy the book so that I feel I can review it on the same basis as any other reader.  So - I make no claims other than that if the book is here, I've enjoyed reading it enough to want to pass the good news on to other people.

If you've had a book reviewed on this blog, then help yourself to a badge!  If you're able to copy it from here, please do so.  If you want to get one emailed to you, please get in contact.  Go on, make my day!  ;)

  3. ... although I've just noticed that the background isn't set to transparent so it appears as black!

  4. It looks like it should have a cut-out for the author's face :)

  5. If you look carefully Joo, it's got my face on - but subtly - so as not to show the wrinkles!

Alex - shall I transparentise it?

  6. I'd love to take the credit - alas, I have already 'fessed up!

  7. If I'd suggest one change it would be to add an emboss effect to the photo, which would make it look more like a seal... the Ignite 5 Star Seal of approval! :)

  8. NIce badges!

Ignite, I keep being nagged, sorry, reminded to do something with my blog and your brand spanking new badges have given me the final nudge to get up to date (such vanity! ;-) Before I get started though, and not wanting to use the 'Ignite 5✭' seal of approval inappropriately, I just wanted to check something...

Your list, in the right margin, has me listed as ... Horror (1) but, as you've been kind enough to give all my published efforts a 5✭ rating, would it be OK for me to display your badge against each, or just Abiding Evil?

Thanks again for all you do to encourage and support indie writers. You're a 5 star yourself!

  9. Of course Alison - use it for all of them. I must catch up with some of my earlier reviews. I'm still a bit behind. And thank you!
